I bought an old Lexmark E210 laser printer, and it does not have any drivers for either Windows Vista or Windows 7. There are no 64 bit drivers either.
So it seemed I was out of luck since I have Windows 7, x64.
But then I found this thread on planetAMD64 which suggested to use the printer driver for the Samsung ML-1210 printer. Thanks guys!
Here is how to get it to work in Windows 7 x64 (and it should work equally well with 32 bit x86):
- Turn on your printer and connect it with the USB cable to any USB port.
- Let the automatic installation try to install the driver. It will fail. If not, then you wouldn't probably be here :-)
Now you need to install the Samsung ML-1210 printer to use the virtual USB printing port that your printer is connected to.
So, go to http://www.samsung.com
- Go to the support section and to downloads. If asked what model you have, type in ML-1210.
- Go to the driver section.
- Locate a zip file for drivers for XP x64 and Vista x64. If you have a 32 bit (x86) OS, then find the 32 bit drivers.
- Download somewhere and unzip.
- If you can not find it, or if it was somehow removed from the Samsung support site, it is available below.
- Now on your computer, click on start and then click on "Devices and Printers". It is near the "Control panel"-link.
- Right click in the opened window and select "Add printer".
- Choose "local printer" in the window that appeared.
- As port, use "Use an existing port" and select the virtual USB printer port.
It looks like this for me.

- Click next.
- Now you must select what printer to install. Select Samsung and the model ML-1200-series.
If you do not have that in the list:
- Click on "Have disk". Browse to the folder where you unzipped the Samsung drivers and select the inf-file.
- There might be some whining that the driver is not signed. Ignore that and continue to install the driver.
- Then you are brought back to the window where you select the printer.
Locate and select the ML-1200-series printer and click next.
It looks like this for me:

- Select the printer to be your default printer.
- It might not work to print a test page.
Now everything is done.
You might need to disconnect and then reconnect the usb cable for your printer.
Now go to some program like your browser and try to print a test page.
It should work.
If not, leave a comment below and I'll try to help you.
A backup of the driver package is here if you can't find it anywhere else.
